End of July Update – Contest Ended, PoneCrafter Released!

Object Creation Contest

Attention everyone! We have ended the Object Creation Contest and are no longer accepting submissions. In the coming weeks, we will be deciding the winners. Thank you all who participated! In the future, we plan to hold more community creation contests. Stick around!

PoneCrafter Released!

We finally have our first public (and open-source) release! However, it is not the actual game itself, which we know may garner some disappointment. But don’t worry – we’re still working on getting the game itself out as soon as possible. Now you are probably wondering, what is PoneCrafter? It’s the custom content creation/implementation tool used for The Ponies! It serves the purpose of allowing you the player to easily implement your own custom content into the game without the hassle of messing with any code. We decided to release it early as open-source for potential developers and advanced modders to study the source code to better understand how our object format works. You can take a look at this tool via GitHub: https://github.com/ThePonies/PoneCrafter.

All new Community Contest! Submit by July 31, 2021

Attention community! We have an all-new contest going on! This one is oriented around game objects.

Design your own game objects and decide a use for them – the best ones have a chance of winning a place in the game, and may end up in the Buy or Build Mode catalogs!

Be sure to create a visual reference for your objects, like a concept art of sorts. Additionally, the more sides of the object visible, the better. Also, you must plan out a use for the object. Is it a fancy couch? A bizarre decoration? Something ponies can eat? Maybe even a magical spell-learning object? You decide!

To submit your objects:
Drop into our Discord server here to share your objects. Be sure to head over to the #contest channel to participate! You can also share your objects with us via DMs on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Submit your objects and their intended use by July 31, 2021 and they may have a chance to win a place in the game!

RULES: The objects cannot be nsfw. They must also be clearly visible so we can clearly interpret it and turn it into a 3D object for the game. Objects must be of your own design. Any object submitted past the deadline will not be considered.

A teaser…

We know you’re probably wondering… how is the sky around the lot going to work? Instead of having an isolating gray void surrounding the lots your ponies live on and visit, there will instead be a dynamic sky that adds a little charm and makes the game feel less empty beyond the visible lot. Although not fully developed and implemented yet, the sky will change based on the time of day in the game. So for example, during normal daytime, the sky will be blue with scattered clouds, while evening and dawn will have various orange tones. And as you can see from the image, nighttime will be a dark purple with scattered animated stars – which can help liven up the atmosphere while your ponies are sleeping and there is minimal action happening on the lot.

Now Recruiting – 3D Animators Needed

Hello everypony! We’ve been working hard the last few months and have finally reached the point of getting our ponies in the game – however, we need animations. We’re looking to recruit a skilled volunteer 3D animator or two to make a great addition to our team! If you are interested in recruitment, please contact us through our contact form or reach out to us in the #recruitment channel of our Discord server.

Progress Update for 2021

Hello everypony! We’ve been a bit quiet the last month, aside from a couple 3D modeling live streams on our YouTube channel (which you can check out here!), but we’re still hard at work on the game. Though we’ve been going through a slowdown lately, it’s important to remember all projects of this size, with a very small team and essentially no budget, typically go through these kinds of slowdowns periodically. But with motivation and passion, they are sure to swing right back! We’d like to thank you all for sticking with us this far in supporting the project. It means a lot to us! We’ll be sure to continue working hard on the game, and to bring you something new and exciting this year regarding the project.
